When you were growing up you almost certainly had hints of what your future passion would be. You played with animals, grew tomatoes, argued politics in school, you played doctor or even liked to talk to people and help them with their problems. Each on of those activities could have led to a specific career choice in the future. Playing with animals could have turned into you becoming a veterinarian or zoologist, talking to people could have led you to become a psychologist.
When choosing your course of study for higher education, you should think back to those early years and figure out what you were most passionate about. If you are passionate about your future career, the more likely you are to excel at it. If you are passionate about your career, the less likely you are to get stuck doing something for the rest of your life that you hate and end up depressed and searching for a new education.
For most people who are ready to pursue higher education, their passions are not always so blatant, so to start of your course of study, choose a broad program, one that will encompass a large area, so that when your passion does become clear you can easily switch your course of study to your future career choice.
The best way to find out what you are truly passionate about when choosing your course of study is to think back to what you did for fun in grammar school. Statistics show that we are less concerned with all the stresses of life at that age and more concerned with what we are passionate about, so that is what you need to look back on, that is the time that you were truly passionate about something. Passion in your career choice is a must for happy lifestyle; you can live in a box and still be happy if you are working in an environment that you enjoy.
