If your child has ADD then you know that school can create a multitude of challenges for your child, but with patience and a good plan, you can help your child to overcome any obstacle. You will be able to help your child can thrive in the classroom.

First, you need to meet with your child’s teacher and administrators so they can help you work to provide you and your child with support.  You need to meet with them and listen to any advice that they have to give you. You need to be your child’s advocate and make sure that everyone is working together to make sure that your child will be comfortable in school. However, as the parent, it is really up to you to help to make the most difference in your child’s educational experience.

The very tasks that your child finds difficult are the ones are the most prized in the classroom: sitting still, listening quietly, and concentrating. The most frustrating for your child is that is that they probably want to learn they are just unable to concentrate. As the parent you need to help your child cope with these issues and help them to meet the challenges schools create. You need to help by equipping your child with learning strategies for the classroom and you need to keep communicating with your child’s teacher about how your child is doing.

You also need to remember that your child’s teacher is dealing with many other students and can not cater to your child alone, so handling any struggles with your child will be primarly left to you. Meeting with a professional to may be what is best for you and your child to succeed in school.
